Forensic Science: Understanding Scientific Protocols
Using scientific protocols reduces subjectivity, strengthens conclusions, protects against errors, and diminishes the need for conflict resolution. This presentation will outline basic scientific principles to increase critical thinking skills and improve how conclusions are drafted and articulated. Although a short version of this presentation has been given at conferences, this version includes a more through discussion of each topic.
These topics and more will be reviewed to ensure the disciplines continue to move in a positive direction. This Forensic Science: Understanding Scientific Protocols course will be of interest to pattern evidence discipline practitioners and may also be beneficial to attorneys involved in criminal cases where pattern evidence is being used. Most examples are related to the fingerprint discipline but can and should be applied to all pattern evidence disciplines. |
