About Michael Connolly
Michael Connolly is a 29-year veteran of the Boston Police Department with prior service in patrol, plainclothes, and bike units. Since 2001, he has been assigned to the Crime Scene Response Unit (CSRU) and serves as a Ten Print Examiner and Certified Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI) through the International Association for Identification.
Appointed Lead Training Coordinator for CSRU in 2007, he developed the unit’s six-month training program for new Crime Scene Investigators and has created courses and provided instruction for newly assigned Officers, newly promoted Detectives and Sergeants as well as a variety of specialized units. His training experience extends beyond his Department to numerous local, state, and federal agencies.
Additionally, Mike serves as a Lead Instructor with the U.S. State Department’s International Antiterrorism Assistance Program (ATAP), where he co-authored and teaches Terrorist Crime Scene Investigations. Through ATAP, he has trained law enforcement personnel from more than a dozen nations, including Bosnia-Herzegovina, Peru, Jordan, Indonesia, Tunisia, India, Morocco and Kenya. He is also a Lead Instructor for the Crime Scene Investigations for Hazardous Environments course with the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) at Louisiana State University.
Mr. Connolly continues to focus on preparing forensic professionals, patrol officers, supervisors, and detectives to effectively secure, manage, and process crime scenes with accuracy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
