Basic Sexual Assault Photography

The goal of this Basic Sexual Assault Photography webinar is to familiarize the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, Investigator, and other students in attendance with photographic techniques that can be used to effectively document injuries and other evidence.

Basic photography and the mechanics of luminescence especially as they pertain to the location and documentation of evidence in sexual assault cases will also be discussed.

Upon completion of this training, the student will:
  • Understand the basic fundamentals of forensic and injury photography
  • Understand the camera and different settings to get the best results
  • List body fluids that tend to luminesce when excited with visible light or ultraviolet light
  • List the steps used to photographically document the presence of luminescence
  • Describe why barrier filters are required and how they assist in the visualization of luminescence
  • Describe photographic techniques that can be employed to document luminescence
