While employed here, he served as a staff member and trainer at the Institute for Criminal Investigations and Crime Science (the National training center for CSI’s in the Netherlands), developing and teaching basic courses on Bloodstain Pattern Analysis and blood search and enhancement techniques. From 2007 through 2016, Martin served as the Forensic Coordinator and Bloodstain Pattern Analyst at the serious crime scene unit of the Forensic Department of the National Police in Amsterdam. Martin retired from the Netherlands National Police in 2016, attaining the rank of Inspector.
After his retirement, Martin and Rene Gelderman formed Loci Forensics in Nieuw-Vennep, The Netherlands. This company provides supplies, training, and consultation related to crime scene and death scene investigations with special emphasis on bloodstain pattern analysis.
Martin continues to present training courses on specialized techniques used in the investigation and reconstruction of crime scenes and the analysis of bloodstain patterns at such scenes. Although he concentrates the majority of his training efforts throughout Europe, he will be presenting training in the United States beginning in the Summer of 2024 through a cooperative agreement with Tri-Tech Forensics.
