Fundamentals of Crime Scene Sketching
The importance of crime scene work involves many facets including documentation. This documentation is a visual presentation to many people who will be involved in the investigation during and after the completion of processing the scene including those persons that may not be present on the crime scene such as attorneys, forensic experts, juries, and judges. Therefore, documentation is a critical component of ensuring others understand what crime scene investigators observed and collected on those scenes. The Fundamentals of Crime Scene Sketching webinar/workshop will provide the fundamental components for sketching and introduce attendees to the importance of sketching and the different types of sketches that crime scene investigators complete on the scene and after. Measurements taken on crime scenes will also be discussed as well as a brief introduction to computerized sketching programs (CAD).
At the completion of this 4-hour webinar (3-hour lecture with an interactive component and a 1-hour practical exercise), the student will be introduced to the importance of crime scene sketches as an important component of documentation, taking measurements, and computerized sketching programs that will aid in the visualization of crime scenes.
Please Note - A follow up practical exercise will ensure the objectives have been met. Students must complete the assignment in order to receive the certificate.
